LDRS Creative: Lift the flap Tutorial

Hello everyone!

I'm back for LDRS Creative to share a quick and fun tutorial on how to make your own interactive flap card with the Safari stamp and die set!

Here's how you can easily turn the large oval dies from the Woodland Foliage Frames into a flap to be added to any crafty projects; cards, scrapbook layouts, mini-albums, etc. The technique is fairly simple. 

First start with a piece of patterned paper cut at your cardbase dimensions. Mine are 4"x5 1/4", so to fit on an A2 white cardbase. Place an oval die in the middle of the panel and run through your diecutting machine. Adding a piece of washi tape helps keep the die in place ;-)

Glue to cardbase the negative part. Ink a sentiment (or a critter!) from the

Safari set with 

Raven hybrid ink in the opening. 

With the oval diecut, place the smaller oval die and run through your diecutting machine. Put aside.

Diecut another oval frame in a different cardstock.

Take back the first oval diecut and place the die on top, as to stencil in with a light pencil line the inside of the die.

Cut along the pencil line.

Now, we need one last thing for the flap; a tab, which I decided to borrow from the 

Pinafore Build-A-Card die set. You can write or stamp any message on it, but I wanted to make sure this one would entice the receiver to lift it up :-P

Before glueing the two oval diecuts together, score each one at half an inch from its edge. This is a tip, people, because if you glue them together before the scoring part, the paper will bubble, just like mine! Oops!

Glue the patterned oval on the cardstock one. Next, add adhesive on the part that was scored on the cardstock oval.

And stick that part on the cardbase. That's it!

Add different decorative elements to the card for a nice finishing touch. I decided to pop the tree from the Safari set right in the middle (previously inked with Raven hybrid ink and coloured with alcohol markers), as a focal point, and a little circle ribbon diecut from the Pinafore Build-A-Card die set.

I can see so many possibilities, also with the Happy Days Circle set!
